GAMBARAN PENGETAHUAN IBU TENTANG PERAWATAN TALI PUSAT PADA BAYI BARU LAHIR DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS Y KOTA MEDAN

Perawatan tali pusat yang tepat sangat penting untuk mencegah infeksi pada bayi baru lahir, yang dapat berujung pada komplikasi serius seperti sepsis neonatorum. Pengetahuan ibu merupakan faktor utama yang memengaruhi praktik perawatan tali pusat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat pengetahuan ibu tentang perawatan tali pusat di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Y Kota Medan. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kuantitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan potong lintang. Sampel terdiri dari 100 ibu yang memiliki bayi usia 0–28 hari dan berdomisili di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Y. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner terstruktur yang telah divalidasi. Data dianalisis secara univariat dan disajikan dalam bentuk distribusi frekuensi dan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar ibu memiliki tingkat pengetahuan dalam kategori cukup (52%), diikuti kategori baik (33%) dan kurang (15%). Sebagian besar responden mengetahui pentingnya menjaga tali pusat tetap bersih dan kering (88%) serta tidak menggunakan bahan tradisional (76%). Namun, hanya 54% yang mampu mengenali tanda-tanda infeksi tali pusat. Pengetahuan tentang mencuci tangan sebelum perawatan juga masih terbatas (67%). Tingkat pengetahuan ibu tentang perawatan tali pusat tergolong sedang, dengan beberapa aspek penting masih kurang dipahami. Intervensi edukatif yang lebih intensif dan kontekstual perlu dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman ibu dan mencegah infeksi neonatal.
